Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, Brenda Garcia has always dreamed of working in the Hollywood film industry. Growing up, Brenda took pleasure in theatre arts, music, sports, dance and broadcasting. The Creative Arts has always been her passion.
What inspired you to become a stunt person?
As a child, the combination of action and comedy movies were an all time favorite; so when "The Rush Hour" came out, it was an instant hit to the heart. A greater desire to be the funny, badass on-screen kicked in.
Also, seeing women like Angelina Jolie in "Tomb Raider" and Michelle Rodriguez on the big screen and video games, made it more desirable for this adventuresome youngster to explore the unconventional route!
What is your greatest skill as a stunt performer, is there a story behind it?
I think my ability to improv and "Act on the spot" has done me very well. Too often we see situations when we are asked to act on the spot and so many shy away.
Thus, the ability to be versatile and having a good combination of flexible/action oriented, athletic movements and the capacity to act well are a bonus. Especially once the costume is on, the character inside cannot wait to play! Being put in "high pressure" environments since youth has really helped in honing these skills.
What is the best part about being a stunt performer?
I believe we are blessed to be surrounded by overall genuinely good people, who recognize that they/we are all very lucky to be here. I appreciate the humility, helpfulness and good sportsmanship that exists within our community.
Hence, the loving, supportive people, grateful nature and the ability to play "pretend" in very exciting environments and locations is my favorite part. One can't go wrong with good collaboration, teamwork and the overall excitement of moviemaking!
What advice would you give other stunt people?
A great attitude, a killer work ethic and overall well-rounded talent on a stunt person creates a wonderfully skilled combination of someone who is not only very pleasant to be around, but also works hard and gets great work done with positivity.
This is pleasing to all productions and one, in this case, is therefore more likely to be requested for work again.

Persevere. Work hard, stay humble, never give up and always think about how you can contribute in service of others.
Tell your all-time personal favorite stunt story!
One time while working in Hawaii, we were on a quick break in-between set-ups, and I remember all the stunt girls involved in the scene began singing "rap" songs.
Next thing you know, one of our Stunt Coordinators showed his loving support for our singing by pretending to tie a rope around his neck and stick his tongue out--- indicating "great distaste to the point of death" at our attempt to sing and rap.
It is precious moments like these that make life all the more enjoyable; I just love being around light-hearted, talented and caring individuals who sincerely desire our best!
