Gary lived at the McKinley Home for Boys in Los Angeles. He was there during the filming of East of Eden (1955) starringJames Dean. He worked as an extra. He is known for his work on The Blues Brothers (1980), Beverly Hills Cop (1984), and Jurassic Park (1993). The tragedy plagued Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983) found Gary in the helicopter that fired the blank shots which resulted in three fatalities when things went wrong on the ground. In 2001 Gary testified in court that he turned downRobert Blake's offer to kill Blake's wife, Bonnie Lee Bakley. He died on October 11, 2014 when a pickup truck driven by fellow stuntmanBob Orrisonmaking a U-turn was broadsided by a Jeep Cherokee in Rancho Cordova, California, USA. Both stuntmen were killed instantly. The two persons in the Jeep Cherokee were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
